Clive Owen
Thoughtful British Leading Man By Eric SchneiderThe English actor excels at playing flawed heroes.
Clive Owen is a renowned British actor who has built an impressive career portraying charismatic, yet complicated, characters. A veteran of UK theatre and television, Owen initially gained international attention for his compelling turn as the lead in Croupier, and steadily increased his profile until he won the title role in the 2004 Hollywood movie King Arthur. The same year, he also garnered acclaim for his role in the drama Closer, a production that he had appeared in during its stage incarnation. Widely rumored to be the new James Bond (after Pierce Brosnan), Owen instead went on to star in lauded films such as Children of Men and Inside Man, generally opting for interesting roles over blockbuster paychecks.
