Trailer of the Day: The Bourne Legacy
Instead of going the Bond and Batman route and re-casting the same character with a different actor, the Bourne franchise just decided to introduce a new main character who comes from the same super-soldier experiment that the original Jason Bourne did. Casting discrepancy solved. Jeremy Renner heads up a surprisingly solid cast - including, among others, Ed Norton, Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn, Albert Finney, and Stacy Keach - in The Bourne Legacy, which hits theaters in August.
Renner is no stranger to action with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Avengers already under his belt, and this iteration of the Bourne franchise looks to maintain the standard set by Matt Damon, Doug Liman, Paul Greengrass and screenwriter Tony Gilroy in the original trilogy. It certainly helps that Gilroy wrote the script for this one too, but this time he's taking over directorial duties as well. The well-edited new trailer lays the groundwork for the transition from Bourne to Renner's character, Aaron Cross, explaining just enough to suck the viewer in, and explaining much more plot than the teaser that came out in February.
