Paul Feig signs first-look deal with Fox, actually funny comedies to follow

Paul Feig, director of Bridesmaids and creator of Freaks and Greeks, has signed a first-look deal with Fox.

Fox is the studio releasing Feig's upcoming buddy cop comedy for ladies, The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. And this is no Miss Congeniality; this is an R-rated funny lady film. Feig promises to deliver more R-rated comedies to Fox, and Fox hopes to reap the box office rewards of Bridesmaids.

In a statement (to press, industry, etc. -- bigwigs) Feig said, "I had an amazing time working with the gang at Fox on The Heat and am very excited to team up with them to make as many commercial comedies as humanly possible. I've also been looking to expand my carbon footprint and so their extreme distance from Burbank allows me that much-desired opportunity."

All Fox wanted was a box office hit; they got comedy timing and sarcasm.
