Magnolia puts the moves on Lars Von Trier and the mysterious Nymphomaniac

Magnolia Pictures has officially inked the distribution rights to Lars Von Trier’s upcoming and mysterious film, Nymphomaniac.

The New York based company and the Danish director proved to be a fantastic team last year when they partnered up to bring Melancholia to us with surprising success. Like the “beautiful film about the end of the world”, Nymphomaniac will likely be released first on video on demand and then theatrically.

"He’s such an exciting and talented filmmaker — it’s an honor and a thrill to be associated with his world." gushed Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles in a statement.

Von Trier fans are also excited (no, not that way, get your mind out of the gutter) about the few released stills from the Dogma 95 alum's latest flick. Not much is known about the film other then its basic plot (a woman recounts her sexual past when she is found beaten in an alley) and the all-star cast which includes Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, and many other big names.

Sex and stars? Yeah, Magnolia and VonTrier shouldn’t have much trouble getting seats filled.
