Hammer Films partners with indie label for devilish vinyl soundtrack
Classic horror movie aficionados and vinyl junkies with a taste for the dark and sinister should get ready to lay down some ducats. Legendary British studio Hammer Films is collaborating with British indie record label Death Waltz to release remastered limited edition vinyl soundtracks to some of their most beloved movies.
James Bernard's forceful soundtrack to the 1968 release The Devil Rides Out (known as The Devil's Bride when first released in the United States) is the first one out of the sleeve. The movie is a great shocker featuring Christopher Lee battling a group of satanic deviants (is there really any other kind?), and it's one of Bernard's best scores. The soundtrack comes with original artwork, detailed liner notes, poster, and a lithograph print. Each record will also come with a download link for an interview with Lee and a link to some unreleased music cuts.
The vampire movie Twins of Evil will be the next one to get a vinyl spruce-up, and other Hammer favorites (still unannounced) should follow.
