Escape From New York reboot to make us wish we could escape from the multiplex
Having been sent as an elite task force to destroy all new ideas, Producer Joel Silver (who clearly thinks he's A-Number One, the Duke of New York) and Studio Canal are looking to reboot the John Carpenter action classic, Escape From New York, because Ernest Borgnine and Isaac Hayes weren't already rolling in their graves.
Silver is apparently looking to turn the story into a trilogy, starting with an "origin story" that predates the original film. You know, to finally answer all those zeroes of people who want to know how Snake Plissken got that eyepatch, anyway (don't do macramé while drinking, kids!) Of course, this means don't hold your breath waiting for Kurt Russell to reprise his iconic role, due to his prior commitment to being 62 years old.
Below, watch the trailer for the original film, and lament the fact that they just don't make 'em like they used to.
