Chris O'Dowd announces ambitious new projects
Between a much-loved performance opposite Richard Ayoade in The IT Crowd, mainstream success as the love interest in Bridesmaids, and critical acclaim for his scene-stealing turn in The Sapphires (currently making the rounds at Cannes), Chris O'Dowd has quickly turned into a hot commodity on the comedy circuit. And he's only moving up: O'Dowd will star in Family Tree, an upcoming TV comedy co-created by Christopher Guest and Jim Piddock (The Five-Year Engagement).
No word on when Family Tree will arrive in our living rooms, but there's no chance that O'Dowd will be twiddling his thumbs waiting for work. On top of appearing in the upcoming Judd Apatow comedy This is 40, O'Dowd will stay on his toes with roles in HBO's Girls, his self-written British series Moone Boy, and the Nick Frost comedy Cuban Fury. As if he wasn't busy enough, the comedian has also agreed to pen a screenplay for Apatow to direct. Go ahead and pinch yourself now, Chris.
