Ben Affleck sticking to familiar Boston turf for next directorial effort

Having gotten some love from the Golden Globes to make up for being the meat in a Best Director Oscar Snub sandwich (Kathryn Bigelow and Quentin Tarantino are the bread, obviously), Ben Affleck will now head back to his beloved hometown of Boston to follow up the excellent Argo with his next directorial effort, Live By Night.

Based on a novel by Dennis Lehane -- who also wrote the source material for Affleck's directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone -- Live By Night tells the tale of a Prohibition-era (take note, Academy voters!) Boston police captain and his struggles with his son, who turns to a life of petty crime and runs afoul of the mob, before being cured of his wayward troubles by a hug from Robin Williams. Just kidding.

No word yet on casting or shooting dates, but odds are you can probably already imagine the film in your head because it's Ben Affleck and it's Boston and it's Dennis Lehane and it's a period crime drama. Do we need to draw you a map here?
