The Toronto Film Fest highlights, minus the red carpet fluff
With the Toronto International Film Festival closing and a lot of mainstream coverage on who wore what and Kristen Stewart's reemerging appearance on the red carpet, it’s time to do a little of our own recapping and see how our picks panned out.
Two of the biggest budget movies with the biggest expectations Cloud Atlas and The Master played well at their premieres. Cloud Atlas however, was called “muddled” and “overwhelming” by some while The Master was largely praised and rewarded.
In a little bit of a surprise, The Silver Linings Playbook was quite the hit with both audiences and critics, taking home the People's Choice Award. Actress Jennifer Lawrence was praised for her performance and is already labeled a Best Actress contender.
Likewise, talks of Argo, starring Ben Affleck and Bryan Cranston, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Picture are abuzz.
Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh's new sick film, ended up nabbing the Midnight Madness Award, while the People's Choice Documentary Award was given to Bartholomew Cubbins for Artifact, a look into today's music industry.
One thing is for sure, we've sure got our work cut out for ourselves with choosing which films we'll review before the year's end.
