Thurston Moore's new band will totally play your BBQ, bar mitzvah, etc.
With the future of Sonic Youth uncertain due to the death of true love, Thurston Moore is focusing his noise-making energies on a new band, Chelsea Light Moving. And to show they're serious about blowing minds and earbuds, the band have put it out there that they will play pretty much anywhere you want them to.
Over at Brooklyn Vegan, Moore and co. posted a missive saying that they will "detonate" your birthday party, BBQ, wedding, bar mitzvah, housewarming party, whatever, with the one caveat being that you must live in a "country, planet, or stratosphere that doesn't support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology." So, basically either of the two coasts. Moore has even been fielding requests on the Brooklyn Vegan comments section, because nothing says "I'm handling my divorce just fine" like hanging around on the Brooklyn Vegan comments section, the most civil and polite place on the entire internet.
Chelsea Light Moving's self-titled debut album (which is streaming on NPR right now) will be out on March 5th, three days after the group takes Maxwells by storm, so don't ask them to play your office mixer that day.
