Sky Ferriera puts her pop status to the test with not-so-pop single

Moving away from a kitschy electropop sound, Sky Ferriera's new track release, "Everything is Embarrasing," harkens to a hopeful journey toward musical maturity. It will be part of her debut album titled Ghost, coproduced by Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) and Ariel Rechtshaid, expected for release October 2nd.

The track takes cues from a number of influences: it's an 80's homage that acknowledges the contemporary ambient vibe of today's females artists like Grimes and Purity Ring while also tastefully hinting at Ferriera's past in pop. Overall, it achieves a nice balance and definitely stirs anticipation for the full album. The last thing we need is another one-hit-wonder princess, so let's hope the album lives up to this track's potential.
