Relive Riot Grrl glory with the vinyl reissue of Bikini Kill's self-titled EP

Before the jailed Russian punk band Pussy Riot, there were the veterans of abrasive lady-rock, Bikini Kill. And now they’re offering up the chance to relive the carnal glory of their first EP — 1992’s self-titled 12” debut — in a vinyl reissue due out November 20.

In July, the Riot Grrl pioneers announced the launch of their own record label, Bikini Kill Records, which will be handling the reissue. The EP will include six songs (including “Double Dare Ya” and “Suck My Left One”) along with a track from their 1991 demo and a live recording at Washington, D.C.’s Sanctuary Theater in 1992. The vinyl will also include a fanzine/poster, archival photographs, liner notes by Skinned Teen’s Layla Gibbon and interviews with Minor Threat/Fugazi leader Ian Mackaye (who recorded four of the EP tracks) and Bratmobile drummer Molly Neuman.

There are also tentative plans to release the band’s original 1991 demo tape, which includes previously unreleased material, as part of an archival-type mission via Bikini Kill Records to dig up all the band's rare/unreleased tracks, photos, practice tapes, films and more.
