Primal Scream team up with My Bloody Valentine for a modern twist
After an anticipatory tweet, Primal Scream have released a new song from their upcoming album More Light, which is set to be released on May 6.
The upcoming album will be the band's tenth to date and is their first album since 2008's Beautiful Future. More Light has already been confirmed to feature appearances from Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and The Pop Group's Mark Stewart. Last year, lead singer Bobby Gillespie stated that More Light would have a more "modern" sound:
"It's a rock'n'roll record, but modern rock'n'roll," Gillespie told NME. "Pretty psychedelic rock, it's kind of guitar-driven but we use guitars in an orchestral way, not in the normal way people make rock records. I think we do it in a more interesting way. We weave the guitars in with electronics and other acoustic instruments to make the core sound. The songwriting has got better! Live we're a guitar rock'n'roll band but when we make records... it would boring if we just made guitar records, we've got our own way of doing things. It's Primal Scream music."
The new taste of their music comes in the release of "2013," the first single off the coming album, and features My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields on guitar. Check out the video below.
