Of Montreal double punch with upcoming rarities album and new tour
Indie/art rock outfit Of Montreal have announced the upcoming release of a rarities compilation, Daughter Of Cloud. Coming out October 23 digitally, on CD, and on a cyan-colored double vinyl, the collection will feature 17 songs recorded within the last 5 years -- 10 unreleased and 7 rare/out-of-print tracks. This time period includes the Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?-era up to now.
Instead of sequencing the songs in chronological order, lead singer Kevin Barnes arranged the songs in a way "to give the listener the same feeling they would receive upon hearing a brand new album." The rarities album follows the release of the band's eleventh studio album, Paralytic Stalks, just released in February of this year.
The group will also be kicking off a select-city American tour in Gainesville, Florida September 25th. The tour will wrap up December 15th in North Carolina. For more information about dates and prices, head on over to the band's website.
