Night Moves rerelease the manic dance party that is Colored Emotions
Night Moves has been dubbed “intergalactic,” probably due to the distinct sound of a spaceship in the background of certain tracks on their new release Colored Emotions. Set to officially arrive October 16th through Domino Records, the album brings much more than effervescent synth your way -- bubblegum pop rhythms collide with prog rock breakdowns to form an exquisite, albeit slightly manic dance party. And who can resist just the right amount of twang?
The release gives the relatively green Twin Cities band credit where credit is due. Night Moves debuted the album as a free download last year on its website, but a supermassive response landed them in studio to record the thing for real. Now, they’re offering themselves up to Lord Huron’s slew of dreamy dancing followers as openers for the folk pop group on a month long tour, including a show tonight at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan.
