Mac DeMarco goes for Baroque in goofy new music video
It's no secret by now that Canadian lo-fi crooner Mac DeMarco has something of a weird sense of humor, but anyone still left wondering how deeply his tongue is pressed into his cheek should look no further than his new video for "Dreamin'".
Directed by Jason Harvey, the clip finds DeMarco roaming all over the suburbs of Quebec in frilly robes, a pageboy wig, and dandified makeup. He takes frequent breaks to shred on his guitar, munch on some fast food, smoke cigarettes (probably his beloved Viceroys), and eventually get covered in slime, a la You Can't Do That on Television. What any of this has to do with the wistful jangle of the track is anyone's guess, but it sure is some demented fun, if we do say so ourselves.
Check out Mac's excellent full-length debut, 2, available now on Captured Tracks, and catch him opening for Critical Mob favorite Ty Segall at NYC's Webster Hall on February 1.
