Jesus, Mary and Megan Draper: Jessica Paré in concert
Jessica Paré, the Mad Men actress who had everyone singing the 1961 ye-ye hit "Zou Bisou Bisou" earlier this year, returned to the stage last week, singing with The Jesus and Mary Chain at shows in Buffalo, NY and Toronto. YouTube user UglyGoblinBoy Posted two songs from Friday night's Toronto show, with Paré singing the title refrain on "Just Like Honey" and ex-Mazzy Star singer Hope Sandoval's part on "Sometimes Always."
Paré acquits herself well enough on both songs although admittedly, neither vocal part is particularly challenging. On the other hand, a clip from the Buffalo show the night before showed her having microphone trouble that was causing feedback extreme even by J&MC standards, which was taking her horribly off-key during her "Just Like Honey" showcase. And, as always, she looked amazing, so no complaints in that department.
But still...how does it happen that Megan Draper is on stage with The Jesus and Mary Chain? I mean, is Paré a Jesus and Mary Chain fan? Do the Reid brothers love Mad Men? Is it some kind of weird mutual appreciation society? It's nowhere near as odd as learning that recently deceased sitcom actor Sherman Hemsley was a massive fan of the Anglo-French prog band Gong, but still. Weird.
