Jens Lekman makes characteristically witty return with new album
Jens Lekman’s new album, I Know What Love Isn’t, is set for release September 3, but for all you eager (or perhaps just curious) fans, The Quietus is previewing an early streaming of it now. Being released through Secretly Canadian, the mellow pop-jazz that Lekman’s become known for continues on with this newest release.
Lekman gained acclaim with the subtle wit of 2007’s effort Night Falls Over Kortedala, an album which, for nearly anyone who listened, obscurely conjured memories of Barry Manilow or Neil Sedaka — soft vocals which wooed dominance over smooth instrumentations. He followed up with the release of an EP titled An Argument with Myself, which totaled just 18 minutes in length — bouncing with humor and experimenting with a sunny, tropical sound. This new release from Lekman, promises these same tricks just slightly more subdued.
You can currently stream Jens Lekman’s full album at The Quietus.
