Jenny Lewis to score indie film, prep sunny solo album

Recently passing the one-year anniversary of Rilo Kiley's official end, Jenny Lewis has revealed plans for a number of new musical projects following her 2010 Jenny and Johnny collaboration with boyfriend and musician Johnathan Rice.

In addition to the potential release of a Rilo Kiley B-side compilation, Lewis is set to score Very Good Girls, a new indie film by director Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal that will star Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen as two life-long friends determined to lose their virginity, only to wind up falling in love with the same boy.

In addition to serving as the movie's composer, the Playlist reports that Lewis will also serve as the picture's music supervisor, which could suggest a soundtrack of some of the songwriter's favored musical friends.

In a recent interview with OC Weekly, Lewis revealed that she's started recording new songs for an upcoming solo record. "I’ve gotten my heart broken, and fallen in love, and moved out my shitty rent-controlled apartment, and lost my father, and tried to rebuild my relationship with my mother," she says. "All of these things have definitely popped up in my songs and I want to write something that's real that people can feel."

Last month Lewis performed one her potentially included new songs to a crowd in Big Sur. Tentatively titled "Head Under Water," the piano-led cut exhibits plenty of sunny pop rock charm. Click below to watch the fan-captured footage.
