Epicness ensues as Bob Dylan meets The Band in upcoming documentary
September 25th marks the release of a new documentary chronicling the legendary partnership of Bob Dylan and The Band. Down In The Flood focuses on 1966, the year Dylan notably changed his World Tour set to half acoustic, half electric, and full on rock n' roll. Backed up by a then-unknown, uber talented Canadian band who called themselves The Hawks, the electric tour created a sharp division within his fanbase and contemporaries. The Hawks subsequently gained fame as The Band, and Dylan went on to be...well, Bob Dylan.
Down In The Flood recounts The Band's rise to the top and looks at the dynamic of their relationship with Dylan. The chemistry and collective skills of Dylan and The Band are explored and showcased - the documentary includes photographs and footage from live shows of the time, as well as a look at the recordings of The Basement Tapes. Featuring interviews with Ronnie Hawkins, Garth Hudson, John Simon and more, Down In The Flood promises to be an fresh look at one of the most exciting alliances in music.
