Eat your vegetarian heart out, Morrissey, Johnny Marr is riding solo

Former guitarist of The Smiths and session artist extraordinaire, Johnny Marr has announced plans to release his debut solo album early next year. The Messenger will be released on February 25 in the United Kingdom through Warner, and February 26 in the United States through Sire.

The album was recorded in both Manchester and Berlin, mastered at Abbey Road by notable music engineer Frank Arkwright. The album will be pure Marr, with the influential guitarist claiming guitar, vocals, and production credits. 

Marr recently that he will be embarking on a 10-day UK tour following the release of the record. His first solo tour kicks off on March 10 in Oxford at the Oxford Academy and after scheduled shows in cities such as Norwich, Brighton, London, Glasgow, and Liverpool, the tour will wrap up in a sure-to-be epic finale in Marr's hometown of Manchester on March 22.
