Django Django goes all out with new video and new tour dates

Scottish art rockers Django Django have released a video for "Hand Of Man," off their universally acclaimed 2012 self-titled album. Django Django was released through Ribbon Music and was not only included in various zines' "best of 2012" lists (including Rolling Stone, NME, The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly, and loads more), but the record was also nominated for the 2012 Mercury Music Prize.

The new video for "Hand Of Man" is directed by the BAFTA-winning John Maclean, brother to Django Django drummer/mastermind David Maclean. The video premiered on Nowness, and John amazingly manages to tie gentrification and bread in his description of the video:

"Filmed on black and white super-8 stock. The end of great things. The party was the last day in our friend's building which will inevitably be knocked down to make way for more dodgy flats with tiny triangle balconies - art, film and music studios destroyed to make way for fast-buck housing developers pricing the working classes and the artists out of central London. The end of film developers and Kodak film stock. And the beginning of great things, Django Django, the spirit of youth, integrity finding a way to live forever, and fresh bread."

As per their website, the band will also be kicking off a UK tour in Brisbane on January 10. After the UK tour wraps up on February 23 in Brixton, Django Django will set off for a mini North American tour on March 8, beginning in Brooklyn. With stops in cities such as Philly, Boston, Chicago, and Minneapolis, the tour will wrap up on March 23 in Los Angeles. The only Canadian stop for the band thus far is March 12 in Toronto.

The monochromatic video for "Hand Of Man" is a simple clip of the band performing an acoustic set in London's famous Elephant and Castle, but things start to get a little trippy near the end. Check out the video below.
