Coachella making waves with new concert cruise
Music festival phenomenon Coachella is taking it up a notch (possibly to 11) by announcing their new three-day music cruise. One ship will leave Ft. Lauderdale for the Bahamas on December 16th, with another boat headed to Jamaica on December 19th. Tickets for the trendy voyage go on sale July 21st and range anywhere between $500 and $9,000. Headliners include Pulp, so, frankly, nothing else matters. Ok, ok, other performers include The Rapture, Grimes, Yeasayer, Black Lips, Girl Talk and many more.
There are certainly benefits to having a festival on a boat -- no noise curfew, no drunk drivers, and the easy accessibility of running into musicians. However, this inability to escape anyone on the cruise also has potential to backfire, so one might want to think twice before engaging in any drunken hookups. While the S.S. Coachella may have room for 2,800 music-lovers, it might be hard to avoid someone on the 1,000-foot vessel. Do your best, or risk giving your friends endless opportunities to say "you're gonna need a bigger boat."
