Adam Yauch mourned by the New York State Senate

Sometimes it takes a tragic event to shake up bureaucracy. The New York State Senate paused their proceedings to draw up and present a resolution honoring the late Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who passed away earlier this month.

State Senator Daniel Squadron wrote the resolution to honor his fellow New Yorker and to recognize his contributions to the city, to music and to activism in general.

"The Beastie Boys exemplified New York through a period in which grassroots creativity and a community of iconoclastic artists helped redefine and rejuvenate a city on the ropes".
