Zhang Xiao's Coastline photo show at Hong Kong's Blindspot
Photographer Zhang Xiao's award-winning series "Coastline", an exploration of China's transforming national character through its seaside areas is coming to Hong Kong's noted Blindspot Gallery. In documenting China's roughly 18,000 kilometer-long coastline the young photographer has found an ingenuous method of depicting its rapidly-changing social fabric. Encroaching industrialization is portrayed alongside traditional iconography, all of it with a keen but matter-of-fact gaze. Even if you can't make it to the show, which is on until March 10, you should keep an eye on this emerging talent.
