Yeah Yeah Yeahs get crazy cryptic with new album notice

Art punkers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have confirmed a new album to be released in spring of next year. Few details are known about the upcoming record, but if the band's cryptic tweet is any indication, it's going to be pretty intense:

"DNA upgrades, spontaneous evolution and NEW YEAH YEAH YEAHS RECORD ARRIVING SPRING 2013! finally."

The tweet was accompanied with an Instagram picture of... a light saber chopping up a gorilla beanie? A chicken doing the limbo with a radioactive staff? A guitarist with a bird-head about to get owned by a neon drumstick? Who knows. This album will be the fourth studio LP by the band and follows on the heels of their painfully awesome third album, It's Blitz!, released in 2009.

On December 8, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performed an intimate show at Union Pool in Brooklyn as part of a Hurricane Sandy benefit. The band was supported by Higgins Waterproof Blackmagic, which is TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe's latest side project. All proceeds from the show went to Waves 4 Water, a non-profit group dedicated to getting clean water to people all around the world.

The band is also set to play some shows in Australia in January. For more info, head over to the trio's website.
