Vince Clarke remixes Liars

UK electro-pop icon Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure) has remixed the first single from the new album by his Mute Records labelmates Liars. "No. 1 Against the Rush" will be released as a single on May 29, also including a remix by Matmos. The trio's fourth album, WIXIW (pronounced "wish you"), will be released June 5.

Clarke's remix has a nostalgic tinge, filled with the vintage early-'80s synth sounds of classics like Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough" and Yazoo's "Situation." As more than one commenter on the Soundcloud link below notes, there's also more than a hint of Soft Cell's "Memorabilia" on the bottom end.

Liars will begin a North American tour on June 20 at New York's Webster Hall, with Daniel Lopatin's Oneohtrix Point Never also on the bill. The tour wraps up 21 dates later in Columbus, Ohio, on July 28. Full dates are available on the band's website.
