Video of the Day: Spiritualized
Spiritualized's new album, Sweet Heart Sweet Light (out today on Fat Possum Records), offers a summation of everything the band has done best over the years. One thing bandleader Jason Pierce has always excelled at, as exemplified by excellent lead single "Hey Jane," is the ability to teeter on the brink of chaos, straddling the fine lines between agony and ecstasy. Pierce explored similar territory with "I Think I'm In Love," a song from the 1997 masterwork Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating In Space.
As the band lays down a cosmic groove on "I Think I'm In Love," Pierce begins inverting standard rock clichés to tell story of heartbreak. Back in 1998, Spiritualized stopped by Top of the Pops to play a condensed version of the track, which you can check out below.
