Video of the Day: Beat Happening

As always, one of the first things we did in the office this morning was check our Twitter feed while the coffee was brewing. Imagine our surprise when we saw that Calvin Johnson was a nationwide trending topic: naturally, our first thoughts were "Ohmigod, did the guy from Beat Happening and K Records die?"

Happily, it turns out there's a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions named Calvin Johnson, who signed a $132M contract this morning, and he was the one who was trending. Which, good for him, but if anybody in indie rock deserves that many millions, Calvin Johnson is one of them.

So thanks to Calvin Johnson the football player for reminding us to listen to Beat Happening's "Indian Summer," possibly the first classic American indie-pop single and among the first songs an entire generation of twee pop bands learned how to play.
