Video of the Day: A.C. Newman, "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye"
Matador Records has just posted a video of A.C. Newman, leader of CM's favorite pop band The New Pornographers, covering Leonard Cohen's classic "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye." Recorded live in the studio with a small acoustic ensemble, it's a lovely way to end a work week.
Newman precedes the cover with an anecdote about how the song helped him transcend a bad breakup in his early 20s. Though it seems a bit odd at first to hear his boyish tenor tackling lyrics so intimately associated with Montreal's musical foghorn of doom, Newman and his cohorts do an admirable job.
