Ty Segall and White Fence to release LP collaboration
A pair of California kids, Ty Segall and White Fence, made two of Critical Mob's favorite lo-fi noise punk albums of 2011, Goodbye Bread and Is Growing Faith. Now Segall and White Fence (whose mother knows him as Tim Presley) have joined forces to release a duo album, Hair, on Drag City Records April 28.
Both Segall and White Fence are historians of punk: Segall has recorded an EP of T. Rex covers and has a voice that at times resembles John Lennon's scratchy high end, while Presley's albums as White Fence sound like a modern lo-fi take on vintage '60s psychdelia. It may not be the first collaboration we'd think of, but it holds definite promise.
Ty Segall and White Fence will go on a 22-date national tour from May 3 to May 25. Each plans a handful of solo shows as well.
