Trailer of the Day: Lena Dunham's Girls
Not long after her breakout indie effort, Tiny Furniture, won her some major fans--including comedy impresario Judd Apatow--writer/director Lena Dunham scored a deal with HBO to develop her own offbeat comedy series, Girls, for the boundary-breaking network. Apatow himself served as mentor/executive producer on the production, and Dunham brought back her Tiny Furniture co-stars Jemima Kirke and Alex Karpovksy to have new sexual misadventures and missed connections in New York City.
In fittingly unconventional fashion, Girls will make its world premiere, not on television (that won't happen until April 15th), but rather at the South by Southwest festival, where Tiny Furniture won Best Narrative Feature in 2010. Of course, SXSW isn't until next month, but you can get a look at Girls' quirky comedy sensibilities now, thanks to this cheeky and charming trailer.
