Trailer for twisted horror film Excision
Turn away now if you prefer your coming-of-age teen comedies without decapitated heads and blood-soaked sexual fantasies. Richard Bates Jr.'s debut feature Excision has just released its first red band trailer (below); judging by the outlandish visuals and the quirky-yet-creepy tone, it's no wonder that this genre mishmash caused a stir when it premiered at Sundance.
Here's an attempt at a plot synopsis: An entirely demented teen (AnnaLynne McCord) is the definitive social outcast with a fascination for the grotesque that would make Dexter blush. With a younger sister in need of an organ transplant, she sets out to prove herself to her family by saving her sister's life. Oh, and then John Waters and Malcolm McDowell show up. Reports from Sundance have dubbed Excision as one of the most gruesome flicks in years, while still remaining a high-quality piece of filmmaking. After watching the trailer, we challenge you not to be at least a little intrigued by the sheer oddness of it all.
