Track of the Day: James and Evander
Oakland duo James and Evander's debut full-length Bummer Pop isn't due until May 15 (via Velvet Blue Records), but a three-song preview single was released digitally today. The winsome electropop of "Abigamy" recalls the era of early Magnetic Fields and Saint Etienne, when dance music and indie pop could comfortably coexist. The tinge of melancholy suggested by the upcoming album's title is certainly present as well. Fans of the recent albums by Sophia Knapp and Destroyer should pencil this album into their upcoming-release calendars.
