Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy get fatherly in trailer for indie drama Broken

The first trailer for the buzzing British indie drama Broken has surfaced online. Acclaimed West End theater director Rufus Norris makes his film debut in a swift and strong movement, tying together beautiful imagery and a young girl's misunderstanding of life.

After witnessing a violent attack in her neighborhood, Skunk (played by young newcomer Eloise Laurence) turns to her estranged father (Tim Roth -- finally returning to the screen after the Lie to Me/Fox debacle) and her mother's new boyfriend (Cillian Murphy). Tension sizzles between the two striving to make the right impression on Skunk, also struggling through grade school and other schoolchildren.

The trailer below reveals powerful acting as opposed to much storyline, but there's no doubt the film will be an excellent character-driven drama. Still making rounds in international film festival circuits, we'll be lucky if Broken can receive a limited release in the States soon.
