Thurston Moore debuts new band
Thurston Moore, (former?) Sonic Youth guitarist, has debuted the first song by his brand new band Chelsea Light Moving. Titled "Burroughs," the song muses on the final words of the late Beat icon (""Love? What is it? Most natural painkiller what there is.") to a tune decidedly reminiscent of Goo-era Sonic Youth. The new band -- second guitarist Keith Wood, bassist Samara Lubelski, and drummer John Moloney -- makes their debut tonight in Calgary, Alberta, followed by three other gigs in Montana and Colorado before the end of the month. No word yet on further dates, but a second, "even sicker," track is promised next week.
