The Stepkids announce tour with Mates of State
We praised the self-titled debut album from this psychedelic trio last year, so we can't wait to see what The Stepkids brings to a live stage.
Touring with Stones Throw labelmates Mayer Hawthorne and the County this spring, the group has also announced a whole line-up of west coast dates with Mates of State. Both groups share a love of harmony and hail from Connecticut, so they're a natural fit as tour mates.
Their blend of vintage soul and psychedelic funk places The Stepkids outside of the realm of the all encompassing "indie pop" label, in a most refreshing way. Their collaborations are always surprising, such as the music video for their single, "Legend In My Own Mind", featuring comedians Wyatt Cenac, Kurt Braunohler, and directed by Tom Sharpling. Hopefully, this tour is just the start of things to come for the group this year.
