The Simpsons go indie rock

If you caught last night’s episode of The Simpsons, you may have noticed some familiar (well, at least for us) tunes-- Hot Chip’s 2006 electropop single “Boy From School” and Animal Collective’s Sung Tongs cut “Winter’s Love.” Both scenes used rather literal interpretations of their respective songs, which is quite a feat considering Animal Collective lyrics these days.

This may have been The Simpsons’ greatest indie rock moment since 1996’s Lollapalooza-spoofing episode “Homerpalooza,” which featured guest appearances from The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth.
