The Mountain Goats release new track via Twitter
On some band's twitter feeds, we're subjected to nothing more than a string of tweets pormoting album releases, tour dates and reminders about late night talk show performances. However, singer-songwriter John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats has taken a more innovative approach to the band's twitter feed by rewarding audiences with a previously unreleased track each time the followers list hits a certain milestone.
Back when the band hit 25,000 followers, Darnielle dropped the demo for the track “Thucydides II-58”. Now that the followers have climbed to 40,000, Darnielle has rewarded his followers with the demo for the warm and folksy acoustic number "All Devils Here Now", which you can check out below.
This is a great reason to add The Mountain Goats' twitter feed your weekly Follow Friday list. Here's hoping that more bands follow Darnielle's example.
