The Lonely Island disguise movie plug as Thank You video
Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, aka The Lonely Island, have created an extra-special Thank You card video for the fans who have helped them reach the very impressive one billion view mark. Or as we at Critical Mob like to refer to it: two Justin Bieber music videos.
Unfortunately, Andy is M.I.A., but comically replaced by his "agent" Jay. We have no idea if this is his real agent or not, but it does provide the only real laughs from the predictably strange, but not necessarily comical video. No real song here to speak of, just a bunch of confusing shaking and crying set to a repeat of "One Billion Views". I guess that was sort of the joke, but let's not sign them up for another Grammy here just yet.
As it turns out, the video is really more of a plug for Akiva's new movie The Watch than it is to announce their accomplishment. It's certainly no "Lazy Sunday" or "I'm On a Boat", but it will likely go viral enough to get them on their way to two billion views.
