The Helio Sequence reach cinematic depth with new video

Earlier this month, The Helio Sequence released their first video from their 5th studio album, Negotiations, for the song “Hall of Mirrors.” Similar to their album, the video (directed by Alex Huebsch and Cliff Sargent) continues their musical evolution towards a sound more in line with notions of “pop” than previous works. However, this new video differs from their previous music videos primarily in its attempt at the cinematic. The sound is a bit Coldplay, the plot meanders, ultimately revealing nothing and going nowhere -- but it heads there gorgeously.

They’re a band that spiked with their 2008 record, Keep Your Eyes Ahead -- an album that has moments of miniture masterpieces. For instance, their epic opener “Hallelujah”, breakup track “Lately,” or “Captive Mind”, not to mention the toned-down, ponderous sound of “Broken Afternoon.” However, there is something about Negotiations, which the band describes on their facebook page as an "organic, spacey/ethereal" sound, that they are perhaps attempting to outshine. Hence this grandiose attempt to inject some epic plot driven-dimension.
