The Flame Alphabet trailer - A work of art on its own

Though The Flame Alphabet, a symbolism-heavy apocalyptic horror novel by Ben Marcus, is set for release on January 17, its book trailer has already been making the rounds on the internet. What's most surprising and interesting is that this spookily unnerving animated trailer is so well done that it could almost stand on its own as a short film.

You'd think the animation would offset the more disturbing elements of the plot, but it actually serves to enhance its "creepy" factor-similar to Radiohead's video for "Paranoid Android." Some are so shaken by the trailer that they've said it's actually discouraging them from buying the book. But is there such a thing as bad publicity? Regardless, the book trailer bar has definitely been raised.
