Sir Anthony Hopkins joins Andy Garcia in Hemingway biopic
Just under a month into shooting for his upcoming film Hitchcock, Sir Anthony Hopkins has been announced as the lead in yet another biopic of an auteur - this time in the literal sense. Andy Garcia has cast the erstwhile Hannibal Lecter as Ernest Hemingway for Garcia's latest project, Hemingway and Fuentes, which will cover the relationship between the stormy author and a Cuban fisherman, Gregorio Fuentes, by whom Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea was inspired.
Garcia co-wrote the screenplay with Hemingway's granddaughter, Hilary, and will direct and star as Fuentes alongside Hopkins and Annette Bening, who will play Hemingway's wife at the time. With such inspired casting, it'll be tough waiting for this one, though I suppose we could learn a thing or two about patience from The Old Man and the Sea.
