Publishing gets a buzz with Penguin and the Espresso Book Machine

If the term “Espresso Book Machine” conjures up the image of a Keurig for books, then well…you're not too far off.

The weirdly tastily titled machine gained major attention last week when the major publishing conglomerate Penguin Group became the most recent publisher to buddy up with On Demand Books -- a company that does exactly what it’s name says it does: it uses its Espresso Book Machines to print books (real books) right on the spot.

The nifty EBMs are located in just over fifty universities, bookstores, and libraries all over the world and allow users to select any book in their system (even out of print and backlist titles) and then go home with them minutes later.

Although not all of Penguin’s titles will be available on your local EBM the partnership still brings tons more titles and serious attention to this growing company and old-fashioned book lovers can rejoice that for once, technology seems to be on their side.
