Photo of the Day: Sebastiaan Bremer's Daughter of Elysium
Using photographs as if they were half-finished canvases or screen prints is nothing new. But New York-based Dutch artist Sebastiaan Bremer takes the practice to new levels of giddiness. He had a memorable show last year at the Edwynn Houk Gallery with a much darker and more mystical approach, but here he shows a different side.
If optimism had a shape and texture it might be the colorful orbs that softly explode around his 2010 work that looks like a family snapshot in the Swiss Alps of your dreams. Damien Hirst eat your heart out.
