Patti Smith’s Woolgathering re-issued
As big fans of Patti Smith and her critically acclaimed Just Kids, we're psyched to see her back in the bookstores with a re-issue of her early memoir Woolgathering, originally released in 1992. Focusing on Smith's childhood dreams of becoming an artist, it features actual and imagined memories of living in New York's West Village during her twenties. If there's one person you want to hear describe New York in the sixties, it's going to be her.
The new Woolgathering has plenty for Smith fans to get excited about, even hardcore collectors who have one of the few original copies from 20 years ago. The re-issue includes some exciting new additions: a short piece called "Two Worlds", as well as new photographs and black-and-white illustrations drawn by Smith herself.
We're also looking forward to her next studio album, which will contain songs dedicated to singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, as well as to Last Tango In Paris actress Maria Schneider, both having passed away in 2011. Can't wait.
