New LCD Soundsystem photo retrospective dancing our way in December
NYC electro-punk outfit LCD Soundsystem officially disbanded last spring, but that hasn't stopped the release of LCD goodies to be released in honour of the band. Following the July documentary of the band's farewell tour, entitled Shut Up and Play the Hits, Brooklyn publishing company powerHouse Books will be releasing LCD, a retrospective photobook of the group over the last eight years.
Photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya began taking pictures of the band in 2004, originally as a fan but eventually as an unofficial official band photographer. The 216-page book includes interviews with the band, album art, and an introduction by LCD Soundsystem founder James Murphy. Regarding the photobook, Murphy states in his introduction, "All of Ruvan's pictures remind me of that feeling: that you're geographically fucked, and it's all happening right now, somewhere else, without you. There's an enormous amount of intimacy in them, and promise, and intrusion."
The book will be released on December 18. Head over to powerHouse to pre-order and catch a sneak peek inside.
