Mike Birbiglia's Sleepwalk With Me to kick off BAMcinemafest
The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) has announced their lineup for their fourth annual BAMcinemaFest. Chief among the twenty independent films making their New York premiere at the 11-day event is storytelling stand-up Mike Birbiglia's one-man show turned crowd-pleasing feature, Sleepwalk With Me. The film, based on the comic's personal struggles with a dangerous sleeping disorder, will open the festival on June 20th.
Sleepwalk With Me made its world premiere earlier this year at Sundance, where it won wild praise along with an audience award. Another Sundance favorite that will be screened at BAMcinemaFest is the fantasy-laced drama Beasts of the Southern Wild-- a film for which we'd featured its trailer just a few days ago.
