Kickstarter-funded Bill Callahan tour doc preps for release

Austin, Texas filmmaker Hanly Banks is finishing up the documentary Apocalypse: A Bill Callahan Tour Film. Filmed during Bill Callahan's 2011 tour in support of his album Apocalypse (which appeared in Critical Mob's 30 Critical Albums of 2011), the film combines live performances with behind the scenes footage of the notoriously press-shy Callahan.

The project was funded by the donation site Kickstarter; having made over two grand more than their initial $5000 goal, Banks has asked that fans cease donations over three weeks before the scheduled project ending. A release date has not been scheduled, but if Callahan's storming July 10, 2011 show at Allston, Massachusetts' Brighton Music Hall (with legendary New York outsider-folk singer-songwriter Ed Askew opening) was indicative of the tour as a whole, it'll be a must-watch for fans.
