Jeff The Brotherhood preview new album
Nashville duo Jeff the Brotherhood release their seventh album Hypnotic Nights next week, and are previewing it with the video for the appealingly scuzzy song "Sixpack." Depicting the traditional southern summertime activity of lazing down the river on a hot summer day with a variety of intoxicants (although in Texas we usually did this in giant inner tubes, not canoes) close at hand, the video is mildly NSFW, with a few brief flashes of skinny-dipping nudity.
Jeff the Brotherhood is Jake and Jamin Orrall, sons of Boston new waver turned Music Row songwriter Robert Ellis Orrall. The brothers were in the first lineup of Nashville pop-punks Be Your Own Pet before departing to focus on their own project. Hypnotic Nights sounds more than a little like The Black Keys did back before they started taking themselves so seriously, and for good reason: Dan Auerbach produced the album, which is their first for Warner Brothers after several years on the indie Infinity Cat.
